SolidWorks Suks!

As you may know, I really am disappointed with SolidWorks 2007!
It's slow, crashes and overall it is wasting my time and others as well, it's ALL relative... that is, we ALL lose!
What are ya gonna do... bitch an complain?!
One solution, become a brain dead drone designer working for a big company?!? Yeah, that's the ticket!?
I swear I understand abuse and victimization every minute I use this program!

Do I get to post if I don't think SW suks? Not wonderful and perfect by any means, but I see some incremental improvement in some areas. Been self-employed since 1984, so far from a design drone. OTOH, probably not the most sophisticated of users either. I have noticed fewer problems with surfaces not re-building after rolling back and changing a feature.

In previous versions I would see massive batches of re-build errors on surfaces seemingly un-related to what I changed. I guess I'm going to say that surfaces are a tad more `parametric' than they used to be. I also have to say, however, that I have never worked with a powerful surface-modeling engine, so am ignorantly blissful.

What truly does Suck BIG TIME is having to pay annual maintenance that includes supposed `tech support' from my VAR. Some of them are OK, but for the most part they are no help at all for somebody like myself (and you even more so) that's been using SW for going on 9 years. If there were a way to pay a fee for new versions without the tech support, that would make me feel a lot less `dirty' as you put it.

Anyway, thanks Paul.

Hey JK,

Feeling dirty is a personal judgement I can't make for you. 8^)
I wish you and everyone felt as I did! Dammit! 8^)
Everyone sees this in different ways and I personally see this from a cost/time view doing 3D for some 20 years.
Are the surface feature functionalities better, yes!
Are the less crash prone or faster, no (imho). Are they more consistent, yes!
With that said, I'm still factoring/weighing the above and SW2007 is less productive.
The dreaded subscription,.. you're probably with the same VAR, Go Engineer (was GEI)? I think they have always been useless! They are so useless they have screwed up my address and information multiple times! Also, I tried to transfer my maintenance (filled out all the paper work) to a local Fresno VAR,.. guess what, they f#@%! it up as well so, I'm back with Go Engineer!? Neither of these VAR's have ever helped me yet they get a good percentage of my money!?!?
What a total waste of money which could have been used for some new features or better quality control! ?

cheer! 8^)
